The policies
below are applicable to Avaterra's VZones communities
and other sites on the Internet owned and operated by
Avaterra.com, Inc. Please read the following privacy statement
that discloses our information gathering and dissemination
practices.
This policy relates to the sign up process for VZones:
the VZSciFi Mailing List is held by John Freeman Kreative
and as such is bound by the UK Data Protection Act.

AVATERRA.COM FROM TIME TO TIME MAY SELL OR TRADE ITS LIST
OF MEMBER IDENTITY INFORMATION TO THIRD PARTIES. IF YOU
DO NOT WISH TO HAVE YOUR SPECIFIC MEMBER IDENTITY INFORMATION
INDIVIDUALLY DISCLOSED TO ANY SUCH THIRD PARTIES, AND/OR
YOU DO NOT WISH TO RECEIVE ANY OFFERS THAT WE BELIEVE MAY
BE OF INTEREST TO YOU FROM AVATERRA.COM OR ITS AFFILIATED
COMPANIES, YOU MUST INDICATE THIS UPON REGISTRATION. (See
Choice/Opt-In Section.)Should
you select to have your Member Identity Information withheld,
Avaterra.com has the right to make exceptions and release
your Member Identity Information in appropriate circumstances,
as determined in Avaterra.com's sole discretion, such as:
to comply with law or legal process,
to protect the rights or property of Avaterra.com and
others,
when a person's physical safety may be at risk, or
in connection with investigations regarding activities
which break any laws.

Information Obtained
Our registration process requires
users to give us contact information (such as their email
address), and demographic information (like their zip code,
age, or income level). We use customer contact information
from the registration form to:
Send
the user registration information
Information
about our company
Promotional
material from some of our partners.
Users may opt-out of receiving
future mailings; see the Choice/Opt-in Section
below. Demographic and profile data is also collected at
our site. This information is used only by Avaterra.com
for advertising targeting. Aggregated demographic information
is utilized to sell advertising to advertisers. For
policies regarding users under 14, please see Children's
Online Privacy Protection Act Section below.

Children's Online Privacy Protection Act
Avaterra.com,
Inc. requires parental consent for use of our services if
a user is under the age of 13. We require parental consent
for all children under the age of 13, via one of the following
methods:
On-line
registration using a verifiable Credit Card number. Opt-in
information can be indicated at that time.
Parental Consent Form. A copy of our Parental Consent
Form can be found at http://www.vzones.com/join/parentalconsent.htm.
This form must be signed by the child's parent or guardian
and returned to Avaterra.com, Inc. by fax at (408) 845-9050
or by mailing to Avaterra.com, Inc, Member Support, 3350
Scott Blvd., Building 9, Santa Clara, CA 95054.
Email addresses of
children under 13 submitted during registration are kept
by Avaterra.com for identification purposes only, and under
no circumstances are displayed or made publicly available.If
you have questions about the Children's
Online Privacy Protection Rule [PDF], visit the FTC
online at www.ftc.gov/kidzprivacy.

What Should I Know About My Privacy?
Please note that because your
access to an Avaterra.com VZone is via the Internet, any
of your communications, intended to be private or otherwise
(including submission of your password), as you send them
over the Internet to an Avaterra.com VZone may be intercepted
by others.
Avaterra.com has no control, liability or responsibility
for any interception and unauthorized use by any third parties
of any such communications. Ultimately, you are solely responsible
for maintaining the secrecy of your passwords and/or any
account information. Please be careful and responsible whenever
you're online.
5.
IP Addresses.
This information is
used strictly for administration purposes and is never shared
with outside parties.
6.
Links to Other Sites.
Our web sites may contain
links to other sites. Avaterra.com is not responsible for
the privacy practices or content of such sites.
7.
Public Forums.
VZones communities extend
themselves to forums, message boards, and/or news groups.
Any information that is disclosed in these areas becomes
public information and you should exercise caution when
deciding to disclose your personal information.
8.
Choice/Opt-In.
We provide users the
opportunity to opt-out of receiving communications from
us and or our partners. We give users the option to unsubscribe
and therefore no longer receive future communications from
us and or our partners.
Upon registration,
you may elect to not receive these communications by selecting
the "Do Not Include Me" button.
After registration,
you may use the Account Manager (https://secure.vzones.com/account/cam.cgi)
to remove yourself by selecting the Edit Contact Info
and removing the check inside the box "Subscribe to Newsletters".
When opting-out of future
communications from 3rd parties, Avaterra.com is not responsible
for removing information that we have been previously authorized
to share from the 3rd party lists. Avaterra.com reserves
the right to send email to all registered users regarding
the use of Avaterra.com products. (i.e. security concerns)
