I mean, no sense letting this forum go to waste. So, lets talk about things that have me puzzled. Perhaps you have the answer to these questions and can send them in as letters to the editor (see article on how to submit articles) and clear up my confusion. First, all these stoned people around. You know who they are. The same people, time and time again, with head in hand just trying to earn tokens. I have nothing against this, if that's how they want to do it, as long as they are not crowding up areas where games or events are planned, or changing rooms, etc... Now, the one guy who stoned out in front of the ATM machine, that was not nice. But on the whole, after a while, you get to know who NOT to say hello to cause the person is not ever there to receive the greeting. Which brings me to my questions. If they spend all their time just standing there, but not really there.... 1) What is it they want to buy with all these tokens they are earning? and 2) if you spend all your time stoned, are you really enjoying the community? Then there are those people who take on fake names. Especially the ones who try and pretend to be Acolytes. The easiest fake there is to spot. To find out who's a real Acolyte, just click on them, then TELL ME ABOUT and you will see a description that is quite different then your regular avatar. For those fake people who just take other peoples names, (and also for the Acolytes) you can just try sending them and ESP message - but MANUALLY type in their name. If they are not on the dreamscape, the person who is there with their name is not them. Don't be fooled by clever imitations, accept only the originals! Which brings me to the question of why would someone want to be someone they're not? Specially if they don't even bother to ACT like the person they're imitating? Then there's the question of who is this Cosmo Cat, and if s/he is as great as they say, why haven't they shown up at my place with a blue ponytail head? And is it a he or she anyway? Finally, are we doing such a great/not so great job that no one bothers to send us letters to the Editor and respond to our articles? Tell us we're driving them crazy with the format changes? Tell us anything? We really love hearing from all of you, so, keep in touch! Which brings me to my closing poem from the Book of CHOKE: May the road be alway level, May your ponytail always be straight; May you always have a CHOKE in hand, And never arrive to Ghost Races late! - Marianne G >**|**<<>>**|**<<>>**|**<<>>**|**<->**|**<<>>**|**<<>>**|**<<>>**|**< >> SEEN ON THE STREET By Acolyte Rosaleah so many different colors out there lately! SunRay Knight Elminster was sporting red ... King of Mars had turned blue ... and Mage Karnage’s hair was positively purple! When I asked about Charlotte_N or Yul, however, I got blank stares. There were murmurings, instead, about a teleporter and hints of an accident -- crossed wires? -- causing the acquisition of some unusual powers ... we didn’t get any names, though, of those who might have been affected by the accident. We ran into someone who claimed to be Homey de Clown, and he certainly looked like Homey de Clown and even seemed to ID as Homey de Clown, but he wasn’t acting like the Homey de Clown, we’ve come to know and respect, so we tried to esp him (typing the name in manually) to ask if he needed any help. Lo and behold, we learned that Homey de Clown wasn’t in Phantasus at the time! It seems someone was just pretending to be Homey, using a letter in the name that looked like it was the correct letter but really wasn’t. Sure glad we checked, because it was very easy to be fooled, and we almost were! Lately the cry we’ve been hearing most about town is BINGO! ...er ... KYMER! This Phantas-tic version of the popular ww game has truly hit the town by storm. There seems to be someone playing it somewhere in Phantasus at every hour of the day and night. If you pass by someone standing on the street giving out a number of letter-and-number combinations (K5 .. Y18 ... R56), you’ll know you’ve run across a group of folks happily marking off their cards and dreaming dreams of increased wealth while sitting up on a comfy cloud. >**|**<<>>**|**<<>>**|**<<>>**|**<->**|**<<>>**|**<<>>**|**<<>>**|**< >> SECRETS By Ushabti What secrets lie beyond these doors that close upon the buildings that line the streets of Phantasus I think I’ll find if I but take the steps to move closer, closer, take hold of the knob and turn and push and enter into the opening thus revealed. But what is here is Known, not Secret: the vendroids spill their guts only upon the insertion of cold hard cash and the bar reveals only bottles and glass while the stars that shine brightly through the StarWay window reveal only the Known Universe, not what may lie Beyond. There is no way to open the locked wooden chest, nor anyone who knows who fashioned the statues, nor an explanation for the Orbitron. Where are the Answers? Who knows the Truth? I gently close the doors and continue through the streets of Phantasus, searching, ever searching. >**|**<<>>**|**<<>>**|**<<>>**|**<->**|**<<>>**|**<<>>**|**<<>>**|**< >> KNIGHTS OF KYMER MEETING INWORLD By Acolyte Sunray Indigo The Knights of Kymer will be holding a meeting of the RoundTable on January 27th, at 5PM WAT. We have also figured out a way to have our meeting inworld! If you have been asked to be a facilitator of a Guild in general, please send in your name to me, as I may not have all the records. Please also remember that we are planning on having more than one facilitator per Guild - especially in the beginning - until the Guilds have their own independent meetings and elect their own facilitators. Unless there is a drastic change in plans, every Knight and Sunray is invited to this first meeting of the RoundTable, so that we may organize the Guilds. Please send us your Guild preferences before the meeting, if possible. We had a major crash recently, and lost some files containing Guild preference information. Therefore, even if you have already sent in a preference, please do a repeat send - and choose up to six Guilds, with first preference first. Please select your top 6 choices, and indicate how involved you wish to become in Guild activities, so we can have the framework of each Guild's membership before the meeting starts. There will be many exciting ideas to share at our first RoundTable meeting. The Guilds are a way to harness the excitement and creative energy we all have within us - so that we can work together and bring more harmony to all of Kymer. Your individual rays of light will combine to create the brightest sun the Dreamscape has ever seen when we all meet for the first time. Echoing back to the medieval days of the Roundtable at Camelot, the magic and mystery of the Knighthood is all there for us to create our own dreams in the RoundTable at Kymer. See you there! >**|**<<>>**|**<<>>**|**<<>>**|**<->**|**<<>>**|**<<>>**|**<<>>**|**< Introduction: The Bloodline recently held a talent contest where one of the areas of competition was story telling. We will be publishing the winning stories, as submitted by the participants in that contest. Following story placed second in the contest. >> FIRST DAY By SunRay Hera Once upon a time, when our World was new, and newcomers abounded, there was an avatar that had just stepped off the Argo. Walking cautiously down Cypress Street, having seen a Nu-Yu sign, the new avatar was reminded of a similar shop in the movie Logan's Run. Realizing much goings on would undoubtably be taking place there, she headed in that direction. All of a sudden, she stumbled into a locale called V-Mart. What's this? People have curious objects under their arms and in their hands. What's that? Why, they are "pawning" those items for cash or tokens as the avatar would find out later. Must be something happening inside, just through that door, everyone seems to be using. So the avatar decided to investigate this further. Inside the V-Mart, she found machines called vendroids. The vendos had many wonderful and beautiful items for sale in them. The avatar thought to herself, "this looks just like a mall!" So she stepped right up to a machine to make a purchase. After some fiddling with the new gadgets required to operate the vendo, she discovered, to her dismay, that she didn't have any tokens. Much later, she learned that in her eagerness to explore this new world, she had not visited the cabin aboard the Argo and missed an opportunity to find 50 tokens waiting for her. Since the avatar did not have any tokens in her possession, she left the V-Mart and searched for a friendly passerby to help with her predicament. After taking some wrong turns, unknown to the newcomer at the time, she found herself at a gorgeous fountain. But wait! There was more than one fountain. How many fountains were there? She did not know that it was one BIG fountain with many faces, many shapes, and wondrous surprises. Feeling a sense of being lost, the avatar panicked when she found that she could not *leave* the fountain area. Finally, after much circling, she managed to exit the fountain locales and return to the more friendly sights known as streets. Walking down Oak Street, our new avatar found some other avatars. "Hello. How are you?" they asked. "I'm lost and I don't have any money!" she explained. Recognizing that she was new, she seemed to be adorned with a head they called a "newbie", they asked if she picked up her 50 tokens from the chest on the Argo. "What's an Argo?" she asked, and after much discussion it was determined she needed to visit an ATM. So one of the helpful avatars asked the newcomer to follow along and he would help her find an ATM. Oh NO!!! She was back at the fountain. The dreaded fountain locale, where newbies search endlessly for a way out. Walking up to the ATM and stepping all over the person currently using the machine, she heard, "Pardon me, but I am using the ATM. Could you please wait for your turn?" The new avatar was feeling pressured to leave this unknown world and leave rapidly. How was she ever going to accomplish withdrawing her tokens, find her way back to the V-Mart, and purchase some of those lovely items she saw? Besides the items, everyone seemed to be running around with these glorious heads and brightly colored clothing. Just when all hope of solving these seemingly simple tasks had disappeared, an avatar asked if she needed some help. "YES!" was the answer heard by all. "How can I help you?" she asked the new avatar. "Well everyone, seems to be walking around with the most beautiful heads. I need some hair or a stylist to help me look prettier." So the new acquaintances struck up a conversation about clothes, hair, and heads. They agreed a shopping trip was in order. "But wait! I don't have enough tokens!" the newcomer said. "That's okay, we can work that out later." her new friend exclaimed. So they headed over to the Nu-Yu shop, where her friend patiently waded through the head vendroids and found our newcomer an appropriate head. And then they proceeded to the V-Mart and selected some nice colors to go with the head. This made the newcomer feel so much better. She actually felt like she was at home, now that she looked like the rest of the citizens wandering about the streets. "How much do I owe you?" asked the new avatar. "Nothing!" replied her new friend. "It's on me!" "How can I ever repay you?" asked the newcomer. "Just do the same for other new citizens as I have done for you." she replied. To this day, our avatar has tried to live up to this joyous beginning. The End. >**|**<<>>**|**<<>>**|**<<>>**|**<->**|**<<>>**|**<<>>**|**<<>>**|**< >> I DREAMED I SAW By Marianne G Just a few things we need in this city, from a gaming point of view. We need to be able to TAG someone. In Caribe, if you ID'd someone, your name showed up on their screen, and their name showed up on yours. Hosts used this method during races to tell who arrived first. The first name to go to screen was the winner. We need a way to tag someone that will go to the screen. The only way I can think of now, is if they have something to HAND you, that goes to screen, and also stops others from being able to hand to you. But what if you want the first three places? We need someway to line up on other Avatars. Being able to walk to them and step on their toes is fine, but how bout a way to line up for such activities as WAVE Competitions, or even just so you can stand next to them but NOT wind up on their toes. Well we're at it... How bout special paint cans for games that only TEMPORARILY paint ANOTHER Avatars shirt. This would have the benefit of 1) not being permanent and causing the other to have to re paint themselves, 2) allowing paint battles and other games inworld 3) allowing temporary changes for team competitions so you can tell teams apart. Perhaps, there could be a spot where they could go to that when they leave, they return to normal, minus the effect of any temporary paint? On Caribe we called it the Nude Beach, which, thanks to Tahiba's sister, I headed to often when she was around. Her and that darn bluing wand! I won't even get into having to constantly change back from a hopping tentacle :D Well, that's about it for now, but I hope you add to my ideas and give me stuff I forgot about. Let me know what you think. Am I totally off the wall? Do you see no need for the above? Let me hear from you. >**|**<<>>**|**<<>>**|**<<>>**|**<->**|**<<>>**|**<<>>**|**<<>>**|**< >*<>*<>*<>*<>*<>*<>*<>*<>*<>*<>*<>*<>*<>*<>*<>*<>*<>*<>*<>*<>*<>*<>*< --_^+^_-_^+^_-_^+^_-_^+^_-_^+^_-_^+^_-_^+^_-_^+^_-_^+^_-_^+^_-_^+^_-- WHERE AM I?? Congratulations to the winners! Next week's prizes are: 1st Skull head (courtesy of Acolyte SunRay VIQer), 2nd 208Ts and third is 158Ts. I would like to thank Guardian Sleuthmeister for donating 216Ts for this week's prizes. To play the game, all you have to do is download the picture file titled where4.gif from the newsstand library section. Then you'll have to guess where the picture was taken, and be the first three to catch me inworld and bring me to the same locale. If you bring me to the wrong locale, you can guess again the next day, to allow others to guess. Don't worry if you didn't win this week as this game will be done in every issue of Clarion. I hope it wasn't too crowded in the cloud of the screen. Everybody wanted to come down as fast as possible, even when I hadn't disappeared, yet... Winning one race each were Dedannan who got a chocolate candy, Utopia who already won one item in Ghost Racing on Monday took along an EPROM (= Eraseable Programmable Read Only Memory, for all who don't know). Snowsprite got a lantern which was very well hidden in the lower right corner of the screen. Margu won 60 Tokens, Sir Lancolyte got 50 Ts, Chief Duckolyte Renegade II a grey chest with a spider in it... Simon took home a snowball (hope it won't melt in a few months ) and Mellow-d had 100 T. Duckolyte Davy Joe won a Snowman head in the head race this week. Absolute winner this week was Christopher Storm who was the only who got 2 items (i.e: some flowers and a Canary) Together with Mellow-d and Dedannan, Christopher is on top of the score list for the monthly Championship prize ! Some smaller amounts of Tokens were won by @thena, GermanGiant, Duckolyte Dan, Adam South East, Amothus, William T. Ryker, Geryon, Temptress, FlyingHi and SunRay Fawn !! :-) I hope everybody enjoyed the races and thanks to all of you for participating. Hope to see you again next week for some more great Races. --_^+^_-_^+^_-_^+^_-_^+^_-_^+^_-_^+^_-_^+^_-_^+^_-_^+^_-_^+^_-_^+^_-- >> European Ghost Racing Results (01/19/96) By Holger Note: The results for GR on 01/12/96 were NOT shown in the last KYMER CLARION (vol. 23) by mistake... You'll find them in this issue. Sorry. Last week's European Ghost Racing once again was a great event ! Also this time we had a lot of competitors who performed great races. Remember this was the 3rd racing of this month (January) and the next races will decide the monthly championship winner (this month's championship prize will be a King Tut Head) ! The results of the 3rd European ghost races are: Winning one race each were LumMoose who got some knitting (hopefully he'll be able to use it ), and Simon who snatched a peppermint (yumm!). Reverie won two races with a total of 150 Tokens, Duckolyte Davy Joe got a fern and dumbells in two races as well. Also two races were won by Brains winning 50 Ts and a cute Xmas Elf head (which he won in the weekly head race) and Knight Eclectus who got a bowling pin and a spider. So this week we had many winners with 2 prizes. On top of the monthly championship prize score list are the great players: Duckolyte Davy Joe, Christopher Storm, Mellow-d, Dedannan, Simon and Knight Eclectus having 3 points each ! So next race will be a very close and exciting one ! Following avatars participated as well (and got some Ts): Beautiful Snowy Tamara, Golden Girl, Dedanann, Jumpper, Duckolyte Markus J. Doe, SunRay B'elanna Torres, Snowsprite, Margu, Adam South East, Renegade I, @Dark Sun@, William T. Ryker, Cecilia B, MANO and Duckolyte Escaper 2. That's it for the 3rd races ! I hope to see you all again on Friday 26th for the last races of this month... 11 AM WAT, 'Outside Isle Caribe' as usual :-). Thanks to all for playing! --_^+^_-_^+^_-_^+^_-_^+^_-_^+^_-_^+^_-_^+^_-_^+^_-_^+^_-_^+^_-_^+^_-- >> MONDAY GHOST RACING REPORT By Acolyte Serena Races for 15 Jan had that cloud over Isle Caribe hopping! We do hope that newbies take the time to read the Ghost Racing Rule file, found in the Worlds Away Life section of the Forum Library, before attend- ing either the Monday or Friday Games. It makes it ever so much easier and faster when the rules don't have to be repeated after every race. Winning one race each were Huckleberry for 50T, Utopia won some hot choclate, Knight Eclectus won 50T, SKY TOWER won a candle and The Watcher got 100T for a first time winner. Way to go! Winning two each were Necrolyte Xian getting a Spider and 50T, Inazuma won an Angel Ornament (my favorite) and snowball, and Crusader won 50T and a Cute Elf Head. Gee, think Crusader is also a first timer. That puts Xian in the lead with 6 wins, Huckleberry right behind with 5 wins and Utopia has 4 wins for the month. Last race on the 29th for the Monday night crew! Winning small tokens of appreciation for coming were Little Princess, Golden Knight Ultimus, Renegade I, Brains, and Duckolyte Davy Joe. Thanks all for coming, and all my regulars for doing a fantastic job at also helping! --_^+^_-_^+^_-_^+^_-_^+^_-_^+^_-_^+^_-_^+^_-_^+^_-_^+^_-_^+^_-_^+^_-- >> REGISTER TO WAVE! By Marianne G TO BE HELD JAN 28th AT 5 PM WAT AT THE STARWAY STAGE: Wave Competition - This is a competition that is gotten from Kymer's History. This competition was regularly held on Caribe. This is a team competition, and teams should be an number of avatars from 3 to 6 to participate in the contest. In this contest, you have to have a minimum of three avatars to perform. Each wave team generally base their movements/story on a theme, which can be based on Kymer History, Caribe History, a dream-scape event, or anything having to do with the dream and the avatars presence in it. Contestants normally stand in a line and narrate the story/theme using sychronized movements to illustrate it. Teams will be judged on your theme and your ability to convey it, your presentation, and the sychronization of movement among team members. Some teams may choose to have one speaker, off to the side, while the others perform the movements. !!IMPORTANT NOTICE!! REGISTER NOW! Send in your registration for any or all of the above contests to 72007,221 or 76571,1241. !!IMPORTANT NOTICE!! --_^+^_-_^+^_-_^+^_-_^+^_-_^+^_-_^+^_-_^+^_-_^+^_-_^+^_-_^+^_-_^+^_-- >> TALENT CONTEST WINNERS By Marianne G On the 21st, we had the Comedy and Pet routine show in the StarWay stage. We also presented the first ever WAVE demo, based on the story, THE LAST DAYS OF CARIBE. We thank all who came to watch the contestants and the Demo, and we hope those who planned on putting together their own WAVE team for the 28th are now inspired to out perform us (not hard to do :D ) Winning the Pet show hands down was a very talented fern named Boo Giggles. She was amazing, dancing, and jumping over THREE OPEN CHESTS! Why, my Hamlet felt quite humble in the face of her abilities. Oh yes, her pet... err owner was Necrolyte SunRay White Rose, who was helped by her handlers Marvelous Melinda and Bufwuf. Winning the comedy portion was Asd, who bravely faced the danger of being frooted on stage to perform a comedy routine. He had the audiance up in the clouds with his performance, and it's a well deserved win. On a side note, we're still looking for those who performed songs in last weeks contest (Jan 14th) to submit the lyrics to the CLARION to share with all in the city. I have stories turned in by all but one, who is waiting, and I'd like to get the songs in also. You all did such a great job, I think you deserve the recognition. Hope to see you all at the WAVE on the 28th, and I hope to see you all competing! --_^+^_-_^+^_-_^+^_-_^+^_-_^+^_-_^+^_-_^+^_-_^+^_-_^+^_-_^+^_-_^+^_-- >> CHAOS, Inc By Marianne G The search for Knowledge on Kymer is always one that should be persued diligently and with real zeal and that is what was under taken at the CHAOS game on Jan 17th. We sent out seekers of knowledge, (Duckolyte Davy Joe, SKY TOWER, Necrolyte Benny, Vini Vidi Vici, Compuchip and Utopia) To search for the Prophats of wisdom (Gillian, Mage Shnee, Supel, Handyman, and LumMoose) and find the answers to some of lifes most puzzling questions! Return they did, time and time again, to present me with the answers. I hope both the Prophats and the Seekers had fun, and I'm sure, even though they did all the work, they won't mind my sharing the answers with all of our readers. So here we go: What is the Meaning of Life? Life has no meaning without Dark Choclate. (Duckolyte Davy Joe and Compuchip searched this one out) How does one find Contentment? One finds contentment with a Teddy Bear. (Utopia, SKY TOWER and Duckolyte Davy Joe all in with this) What is Perfection? Perfection is a Ponytail. (Utopia and Necrolyte Benny first back with this) Is there life without a dream? Only in dreaming do we truly live. (Necrolyte Benny and Compuchip first in with this one) All thanks to our wise people, Gillian who wishes to add Rasberries to the Dark Choclate, Mage Shnee and Supel, his mid game replacement for providing us with contentment. LumMoose, I always knew what would make me look perfect! And Handyman, well, this is the dream- scape! Remember, CHAOS,Inc is a chance to try out new games every week, or add some twists to old ones. Come early so you can pick on the hostess when she's late. It's at 5 PM WAT in the Bar-L Storeroom and as they are new, you want to be there for the instructions.
