Hmmmm... It's my turn again this week. Well you see, I just don't know where to begin. The last couple of weeks here have been.... interesting.. to say the least! With the creation of The Void and those who have chosen to take the path leading there.. A lot of folks seem to think it's the "IN" thing to get into the void.. Those who have been there realize it's not the place to be after all... There is more than ever to do in the city.. From Tech Trivia to the function meetings.. to the various types of ghost racing... and of course lets not forget Bingo!! Now we have the Duckolytes Auction coming soon... Wonder if there will be any rare heads for sale ? Check out our schedule for complete event information.. I notice this week that there are no letters to the editor.. That means I've got nothing to answer! So on that note, there is a Gif that goes with this Edition of the Clarion: GRO396.GIF It depicts the March ghost races winners.... Oh and if you happen to be standing next to Necrolyte Benny while he's wearing his new sock head, one word of caution.. Protect your sense of smell and stand upwind! Rumor has it his sock is nearly standing on it's own...... Pheewwwww.... Take care everyone and have a Happy Easter!!!! Don't eat all that candy in one day! <><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><> >>SEEN ON THE STREETS by Rosaleah with Marianne G Which Acolyte was banned from the Tabernacle after putting too much wax on the floor? Word is that it was her turn to wax the floor.... she over did it again... (but my does it shine ever so nicely) and now the acolyte in question is not allowed to touch those floors..... seems an Oracle AND a cat were victims of the high shine and they are banning her because of it :D - course... this is only rumour.... wonder if it's the Oracle who lost his socks.... Next time you're in the Visitors Center, take a close look at the Help Desk. Yes, those are Lord Kefka's initials carved into the intricate molding, and let me tell you, I am in deep deep trouble over it. To Lord Kefka's credit, he *did* attempt to cover over the damage when he heard that I'd likely be mopping the temple floors for at least a week when it was learned that he'd damaged the table on my watch ... but the repairs weren't good enough and, yes, I got floor washing detail. Again. Hmmm.... come to think of it, that Werner head of Kefka's makes a pretty good mop, now, doesn't it??? I had a great time at Big Kahoona's surprise birthday party Friday night (or was that Saturday morning) at the Bar-L Bar. Unfortunately, I had to leave early ... I heard that people were partying well into the wee hours, with some of the guests arriving fashionably late, of course. Among those who were there when I was to wish the Old Man many happy returns was Lag O'Morph, who presented BK with a black chest buried inside a series of boxes. Just when he thought he'd had enough boxes to go into the box business, BK opened the chest to find it .. yes .. full of more boxes, each of them with a present appropriate for his advanced age ... knitting, candles, and the like. Also in attendance, along with BK's sweetheart Sunray Dream Keeper, were Chewbacca Golden Knight, German Giant (looking great in pink pig ears), Sappholyte Normala Orlando, Cut-Me-Own-Throat Dibbler, and Bionic Woman. So now it's official. Big Kahoona is Old, folks. Very very Old. ;) We spotted Darkhorse and Necrolyte Benny sporting sock heads this week. Seems they're ghost race champs ... and the socks are ones that escaped from an Oracular laundry basket. They look great, but you .. uh .. don't really want to stand downwind of them, you know? <><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><> ^^^^++++ KYMER COLLECTIBLES AUCTION ++++^^^^ HOSTED BY: Clover and Passion with Staff Well March 25th was a memorable auction.... We had over 80 ghosts... Oracle Teresias even made an appearance! There was a problem with a non-staff avatar sleeping on stage... She was hidden behind the right pillar snoring away! The Auction went on anyway with the following list of items that were sold: Item Buyer Selling Price Rocking Horse Princess Lovely 1350 Ornament (girl) Echolyte Echo Guy 1225 Hot Chocolate Oceanfront 425 Peppermint Berch II 700 Chocolate Candy Dakota 1400 Torgersen Teddy Dakota 5000 Snowball Dakota 1000 Fern Dakota 3000 Halloween Bag Cheif GK-Raptor Duckolyte SrK 2350 Lockable Chest #44 Elminster 20000 Mushroom_Pepperoni Pizza Princess Lovely 650 Rosehead (White) Dennis S 3325 Well we did have 80 ghosts and there could be no head show because it wasn't safe to pull out the chest of heads since it was not all staff on the ground! Dakota picked up quite a few items this time, she was shopping! Another Halloween bag popped up to fetch an ever increasing amount of tokens.. But the real sale and record breaker of the evening was the Lockable Chest #44. Elminster forked over a whopping 20k tokens for this rare container! And there were supposed to be some flowers but somehow they got lost in all the shuffle and confusion! Well I have a hunch that they'll turn up soon!! Join us again for the next Kymer Collectibles Auction!! We'll try to have a head show this time!! I'm always shopping for a head you know! I can let you have this one for just the immortalization in song and verse. If you want one closer to your original specs, it's a special order. It'll take two weeks, but there's no extra charge. P.S., I'm rather fond of a couple of the Duckolytes, if you promise that they won't be *too* involved with the dinner . . . . Jaeger, of Jaeger's Hunting Supplies. Elf, as in Elven Longbow--softly curving ash, curves as luscious as...well... definitely *not* a crossbow. *sighhhh* wonder if it's in one of those crates next to Marianne G's CHOKE machine... .. sayyyyyyy.... Eärendil ~~~ Ethereal Elf >>**|**<< Dear WorldsAway members and citizens of Phantasus who are my customers, This is an open letter to all of my customers and especially to those who attended the auction March 25 or have read transcripts from that event. It is a rare occasion that an Oracle posts in the forum, but I feel this is important and I am using the WA Team account to post this. First I would like to present what occurred from my perspective. This is not a defense of my actions in any way. I am simply presenting the facts as I saw them. On March 25, I was called to resolve a conflict between girlie and those hosting and participating in the Auction. I observed and, seeing that stopping the conflict on both sides was more important than fixing blame, I contacted girlie via ESP to attempt to bring an end to the disruption. After obtaining an agreement from her, I wished to speak to the hosts and participants to see if a resolution could be had. When I materialized, I made poor choices in the words I used to address the locale and, understandably, received an appropriate reaction. I did not properly address the comments directed to me which further angered many people. During this girlie exited the locale and I soon left in what should only be described as a huff. In the light of a different day, I fully realize that my actions were not exemplary and less than professional. I presented an inconsistent view of the policy Vaserius had established earlier and that generated confusion and anger. I sincerely apologize for presenting inconsistent policy the night of the Auction. It was not my intent to uphold one customers’ enjoyment over a group of any size. My intent was to seek a compromise between the conflicting rights, but I allowed myself to lose sight of that goal. I apologize for my behavior that night. My choice of words hurt Clover and her staff. I did not intend to place blame of the incident on her or her staff. I apologize for making it sound that way. Overall, I feel I could have handled the situation better and to the satisfaction of most involved. Having reviewed the errors I made, you can expect my handling of similar disruptions will be better suited to the situation with appropriate respect paid to everyone involved. To clear confusion about Oracle handling of similar disruptions the following is set out to clarify our policy on this issue: If called to stop an accused disrupter, the Oracles will observe the situation and work to resolve it. They may enter the locale to further attempt to resolve the conflict. If warranted, they will move the disrupter from the scene and work privately to resolve the conflict. If necessary, further action against the disrupter may be taken. We do ask that those in the locale attempt to resolve the conflict first on their own remembering that ESP Bomb and attacking-in-kind can further provoke anyone. There are many newbies arriving who may be initially confused and someone who takes the time to explain and offer them to join will have helped include a member to our community. If problems continue, an Acolyte should be paged who will also work to resolve the conflict. If the Acolyte deems the problem requires and Oracle, they will contact one on duty who will follow the above policy. The Dreamscape offers us an opportunity to explore the medium and ourselves. It also allows us the opportunity to learn from that exploration. I hope you will understand my perspective of the Auction incident, know my regret about how I handled it, accept my apology and know that I am committed to acting professionally in the future. If anyone wishes to speak to me regarding the incident, I can be contacted in the Dreamscape, Sundays - Wednesdays usually between 7PM and midnight WAT. Sincerely, Oracle Teresias >>**|**<< Dear WorldsAway members and citizens of Phantasus, In our continuing efforts to provide you the best possible customer service, we want you to know that all messages in this forum are read on a daily basis by the members of the forum staff. All of us -- even those who bring sorrow -- are a part of it. The Dream is magic; a place where we can shed the cares and burdens of the waking world and become ourselves -- us -- the way we would like to be. Each person that shares the Dream also changes it, however slightly, because the Dream includes us all. If it did not, it would not be the Dream but merely an extention of the waking world. The Dream is vast, dynamic and everchanging; incredibly complex. Right now the Dream is unbalanced so that those who bring sorrow have an overlarge effect upon the Dream as a whole. It is just too complex to respond rapidly ... but it does respond -- and is doing so even now. There are changes coming, changes in the very fabric of the Dream, that will allow the Dream to continue to embrace all who would share the experience and yet empower each of us within the Dream to shield ourselves from other Dreamers who would bring us sorrow. Remember that all things are relative. What seems like an interminably long time now, in the midst of a painful situation, is not all that long compared to the time we will have to enjoy the Dream once the changes that are being made become an active part of the Dream. If you were one who was going to write, and forgot who to send it to, just send it to 72007,221 and I'd like to say thanks in advance. DATING KYMER STYLE Follow Up on Date By Taegan It was earlier the same day of the contest. I had heard about the Date Auction from UltraViolet, so I thought what have I got to lose. I want to meet more people in world. I started walking by the fountain and saw a newbie with that offending head and offered to buy him a new head. So as we were out fitting LockJaw with a new head who did we meet but Bob Barker. He had overherd me talking about the date auction and said I could join. Well I was pleased but overwhelmed. Bob then proceeded to help think of a date idea along with the help of Clover's help whom I want to thank profusely . So he told me to be an half an hour early. I showed up at the requested time not really knowing what to expect and it was very busy and exciting. I did get a big laugh out of Bob (kept misspelling my name). Bob went through the rules ; I was still sort of in the dark and thought I would see how the others proceeded. Well much to my surprise he picked me first. Ohhhh my goodness I was literally tongue tied not knowing what to do or say. Mortified that no one would bid on me "doubts assailing me". The bids started trickling in .....then it was over. Who should win the date with me but LocJaw the guy I had met earlier. I said "Thank God" for good deeds or no one would have picked me. He assured me with a laugh that wasn't the case. My beautiful demeanor and out right good looks had won him over. Since then it has indeed been pure magic and alot of fun. <><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><> REWARD! Two of the clues given for last week's puzzle were inaccurate. This was entirely my fault and I am very sorry. I did post a message in the forum as soon as I realised what had happened and I hope most of you saw it. For those that didn't I will repeat them here, correctly this time! The solution follows immediately, so if you still want to work it out, be careful not to look! 2. Peaches went to Phantasus with Darius, she was not the Avatar who met an Oracle in the Starway Cafe. 3. Leia visited the locale known as Meditation Park. This is the solution to last week's puzzle. Female names Male names Locale Memorable moments Colette Samson Isle Caribe Got chased by Alienytes Trillion Jaxom Starway Cafe Met an Oracle Leia Hercules Meditation Park Won a teddy bear Rowan Moon King Bar-L bar Played Ghost Racing Peaches Darius Visitors Centre Was given a rare head In case you need to know, here is an explanation of how this is worked out. The Avatar who went to Phantasus with Hercules, and who won a teddy bear (clue 4) was not Trillion(clue 1); Peaches, who accompanied Darius (clue 2); Rowan (clue 4); or Colette, whose memorable experience was being chased by Alienytes (clue 5). So she must have been Leia, who visited the Meditation Park (clue 3). The young Avatar who was with Samson at the Isle Caribe(clue 4) was not Trillion (clue 1) or Rowan (clue 4), so she must have been Colette. We now know the locales visited by 2 of the Avatars. Peaches was not the young Avatar who met an Oracle at the Starway Cafe (clue 2), and, as she accompanied Darius, she did not go to the Bar-L (clue 6), so she must have gone to the Visitors Centre. We now know the experiences to match 3 parts of Phantasus, so Peaches, who, from clue 1, cannot have played a game, must have been given a rare head. From clue 1, Trillion did not play a game, so she must have met an Oracle at the Starway Cafe, leaving Rowan as the young Avatar who played the game. By elimination, Rowan must have gone to the Bar-L. Finally, from clue 6,Trillion cannot have been accompanied by Moon King, so she must have been with Jaxom, leaving Rowan as the Avatar who was accompanied by Moon King. ** Now for this week's puzzles: ** 1. We are happy to be announcing that this is a Duckolyte benefit auction and all proceeds will be going into the Duckolyte benefit fund to help sponsor future prizes for events held in the Dreamscape. To put on events that contain prizes it takes many tokens, most of which come from the sponsor's own pockets. This will offset the high cost of holding special events and will bring to you a larger number of prizes. All avatars of Kymer will benefit from this and the Duckolytes are elated about bringing it to you. During the event there will be door prizes which will be announced soon, as well as the items up for bid. The auction will be handled a little bit differently than auctions of the past; we will add our own flavor of bidding to make it more enthusiastic for the bidders, and for those who like to watch. One of the ways of bidding (traditional) is that the item up for bid will go to the highest bidder. The other variation called "Duckolyte Rules" will go like this: the item up for bid will be deliberately started high, then gradually go down in price. The first bidder to bid gets the item. Here is an example, lets say the item is a rare Cute Elf head (rep), the floor is opened by the auctioneer at say 10,000 tokens. The price gradually decreases until a bidder bids on it. The first one to bid gets the item. This type of bidding adds a new excitement and tension to the auction. The Duckolyte sponsors will be charging a fee of 10% for items placed on consignment, and once again the profits will go to help fund future events in Kymer. Items up for bid at the auction are guaranteed not to be sold in vendos. We are looking forward to seeing you Friday, April 19 at 7 PM WA time in the Starway Stage Cafe. The Duckolyte Collectibles Benefit Auction will have many rare items up for bid. Everyone who comes is eligible for door prizes. We hope to see you all there!! Please contact the following authorized individuals for items to be placed on consignment, Chief Duckolyte Brains Chief GK Raptor-Duckolyte SrK Do not accept offers from imitators claiming to represent the auction, contact us in world if you have a rare item that you would like to place on consignment. <><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><> >>TURFS HAVE BEEN OUT SINCE JANUARY<< In a private conference with Oracle Vaserius he released information to Clarion reporter Milen that turfs, in fact, were released in January and are plentiful in supply. The teleport address to the location that Turfs were made available in was released to a particular few avatars with the instructions that the information be spread to as many people as possible. The people, however, decided to sit on the information and keep the turfs to themselves. Names of the offending parties have not been disclosed but the Clarion will keep you informed in the event of further updates. In the meantime, we have gotten clearance to release the address. The destination to enter into the teleporter to find your turf is: >>"APRIL FOOLS!"<< >>RIOTERS MOB CLARION OFFICES<< Apparently a light hearted attempt at an april fools joke backfired on the unfortunate editors and staff of the KYMER CLARION. The report in the paper that turfs were available prompted great clebration and frenzy until it was found out to be just a hoax.... the unamused among the avatar population mobbed the CLARION offices and caused extensive damages. The CLARION editors and staff have yet to be located.... they had been inside the offices when the riots started. It is not know if they had an escape route, or were carried off by the crowds. <><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><> >> Cosmocat's Story << Written by the Cat of Kymer himself! After the release of head sprays, Cosmocat has had very little demand left for his services, basically going the way of Charlotte-N and Yul Brenner. This is his story that I now relate to you who have wondered how and where he got his special abilities... Acolyte VIQer.... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ As I remember it, I was preparing for the "NO TURFS, NO PEACE!" protests, and was set on painting my clothing black in support. I bought a can of black paint in V-Mart and when I selected "spray", there were more choices than usual. "Hmmm, this is strange," I thought, and being the cat of great curiosity that I am, I sprayed the face of my "Gary_Head" with the black paint. Oh, my! It was black! So, I painted my hair, too, then bought more paint, sprayed my clothes and skin, and headed to the Visitor's Center. "What color is my head?" I asked, not knowing whether anyone else could see what I saw--a totally black avatar. I got the answer. I appeared black. Then the ESP barrage that I have come to love so well began: "How did it happen?" Gee, I hadn't thought about that. "It was a teleporter accident," I said, not knowing how else to explain. "I crossed some wires, and there was lots of black smoke...when it cleared, I looked like this." Two avatars in the Visitor's Center offered to act as guinea pigs to see exactly what this new ability consisted of. We toddled off to the Temple and did some experimenting. Word of a head-painting avatar very quickly spread. I was soon receiving ESP inquiries and requests (and a couple of complaints) from many avatars, including a certain Oracle: "I understand you are painting heads." "Yes, I am painting heads, but I am not charging for it," was my reply. I began to wonder if painting was a good idea. "Only powers given by the Oracles are legitimate." I grinned and waited to be *zapped* or something. But nothing happened. "Whew, that was close," said I, thinking the Oracles would now be out to get me. But I continued to paint anyway--there were so many avatars who wanted me to paint their heads, and it WAS kind of fun. So I continued to paint heads whenever I was inworld until the day the Oracles wisely introduced Head Spray into the vendos, thereby giving all the citizens the wondrous ability to paint heads. Looking back, I do not regret my decision to paint. I could have chosen to keep my ability secret. But I chose to share my talent with the community-- I hope I added something positive to it. I am grateful the Oracles did not choose to use their power to intervene--I thank them for that. I hope we all know that we are participants in an historical experiment here in the Dreamscape: Each and every one of us has the power to literally change our world. Our actions can affect the entire community: Treat each other with kindness and respect, and our community will flourish; show disdain and ridicule and it will die. The choice, the power, belongs to each of us. As for my story, I have since refined it to include tuna cans and intake valves in addition to teleporters, but it's all merely conjecture. I do not know how or why I obtained this ability, and no one, including the Oracles, seems to know. Of course, there was that long chat I had with Prospero on that island off Milano shortly before my arrival here on Kymer.... ~Cosmocat <><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><> <<<<<<<++++++>>>>>>> GAMING SECTION <<<<<<<++++++>>>>>>> ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ >>DUCKOLYTE TRIVIAMASTER by Chief Duckolyte Brains:-) The results of last Sunday's game are as follows: 1st Place: Babette - received a Heart Chest with Rare Pink Flower_Head* and matching rare body spray. 2nd Place: Cut-Me-Own-Throat-Dibbler - received a Heart Chest with Rare Pink Lacey_Head* and matching rare body paint. 3rd Place: Jayvee (tie) received a Heart Chest and Fern. 3rd Place: TexxWilly Wonka (tie) received a Heart Chest and Fern. The following are the standings going into the final week of TriviaMaster. These people qualify for the monthly Prize to be given out on Sunday, March 31st at the Starway Stage. In the event that a tie exists, we will have a special monthly set of questions to break the tie, and select one winner. The standings are as follows: Chris Brown: 5 points Babbette: 5 points Unga-Bunga: 3 points TexWilly Wonka: 3 points Cut-Me-Own-Throat-Dibbler: 3 points Leadman: 2 points Jayvee: 2 points Good luck everyone! It is still wide open on who the monthly winner will be. A first time player of the game can still qualify. This week's attendance was well over 40 avatars again. Door prizes including many rare items were given out at the start. Technical difficulties caused the number of questions to be reduced on Sunday. The error was found, modifications to the program have been made, and we are thoroughly testing. I am afraid to say that user error was the cause of the problem. Apparently, a space was in my text file where one should not be. Additional code was written to insure this will never happen again. Thank-you everyone for your support and patience at the game. I have a deeper empathy to those who score these trivia games manually. I don't think I could do it without Wert's TriviaMaster program. Duckolyte TriviaMaster is intended to be a very fast paced game. This week's topic is "Media", this includes all types of media such as TV, Movies, Radio, Newspapers, etc. This topic will not ask questions like, who starred in this movie or TV show, or what was the Beaver's real name. They are high level questions only. TriviaMaster is played every Sunday at 7:00pm WAT at the Starway Stage. Please join us for the fun. Door Prizes every week. <><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><> >>POP CULTURE TRIVIA WINNERS by PEZ Collector Pop Culture Trivia is the place to be on Wednesday nights. This means if you have won at one of those races during the week, that win will count towards your limit for the week. This will allow more winners every week between the various races being held. The streets were busy but we managed to get the races in. Winning one each were Sunray LumMoose-Kymer Guardian, who gulped down his Sparkolyte Soda, Chief Duckolyte Brains, winning non-vendo white paints, Unga-Bunga winning 50T, My Name Is Fancy. winning a rose head painted in non-vendo white, and in the second chance race, Johan and JayVee both won 100T. Winning two races each were Necrolyte Benny for a fern and 50T, Davy, winning 100T, and SunRay Mage CyberMage II for 50T and a valentine. Some of the others there for the races were Duckolyte Dream Diana, Helpolyte Marla, Horton Swine, I Love Leslie Anne Allen, Kira and Captain Griffin. With no one near him, Necrolyte Benny won the races and ummm well, he got a sock to wear on his head! True, everyone now stands down wind of him (and the Friday Race winner who I'll let Holger announce), but it's a small price to pay for a unique head :D Don't forget to take a look at the GR0396.GIF in the library to see the pair of socks... I mean winners and the runner up! <><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><> CHAOS,Inc By Marianne G We re-tried Pass-Link this week. We had done it the previous week, but due to all wanting to hit the last night of the story telling, we had not really gone very far. This time went much better. We turned a Sodium Safe into a Salt Vault, a Bunny Routine into a Rabbit Habit, a compensated Servant into a Paid Maid and many more. The teams were trying very hard to give the right clue to their partner, and guess what clue that partner had! Hardest ones were Cardboard Sword, Elusive Hug, and Bird Dishcloth. They went through many changes, and were finally given as Paper Rapier, and Fowl Towel. Besides being able to solve their own Pass-Links, Angel Gambler, JayVee and Cut-Me-Own-Throat Dibbler were also good at solving them first from the cloud. There may be one or two more glitches to work out, but I think this will be a winner when done. Speaking of done. We're currently writing down the rules of games we introduced to the dreamscape, and others submitted to us. When completed, the file will be uploaded to the library to help out not only the game players, but potential hosts who may have an interest in seeing how the game is hosted. Get in touch with me on the dreamscape if you have a question or interest in this project. <><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><> <<<<<<<++++ TREK TRIVIA ++++>>>>>>> HOSTED BY: Captain Picard aka Acolyte Sunray VIQer.. A lot has changed with the crew over the last few weeks! We have added some new crewmembers and there have been some surprise promotions! Please welcome Lieutenant Vini, who has already been promoted once for doing such fine work, and Ensign Darien, who ranks among the top five most of the time in our trivia game... Congratulations on your Starfleet Assignments gentlemen! Rumor has it that another crewmember will be added this week if she shows up... And of course everyone will remember Admiral Hanson who mad a guest appearance last week to promote Captain Picard to Rear Admiral!! Starfleet felt that they needed some Command authority out in the field and of course now the Enterprise has become the Flagship of the fleet! It followed that Commander Data, favored by all the players, was promoted himself to ship's captain! Data has achieved his long overdue command of his own...... 27 years in Starfleet is a lot of experience!! We have had good crowds the past couple of weeks.. This week we would like to start a bit early so that there will be time to play Stump The Trekkies.. We have taken on more crew to assist us in this endeavor. Lets put our new officers to the test shall we?? Grand prize winner for 3/22 Trek Trivia was: Prince Darien-Golden Knight!!!! Now Lieutenant Darien Grand prize winner for 3/29 Trek Trivia was: Jet Duke! A regular player at our event.. Rumor has it Jet has applied to Starfleet hoping for an assignment aboard the Enterprise!! Be there Friday to see if Starfleet accepts her application! Engage!!!!!! <><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><> ^^^^++++ Relay Ghost Racing ++++^^^^ The last two weeks we were able to run four races per event! The prizes have been much improved this week... Many were disappointed they didn't win one of those Rose or Lacey heart heads, so We'll try it again this week! Remember, no one loses at Relay Ghost Races! Second prize isn't shabby either! Well worth the 10 minute time span for each race....The most important thing is that you have a good time with us on Saturday night! We welcome repeat racers.. ESP me if you'd like to remain on the list in case we need a partner for someone... Just hang around and see what's happening if you prefer. Rules are repeated upon request at the game and will soon be posted in the Forum so that others may see how the game is hosted. This Saturday come prepared to have a great time!!!!! Acolyte Sunray VIQer..... <><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><> SOME THOUGHTS ON HOSTING By Marianne G We've been hearing lots lately bout rules to play by when it comes to being a participant at an event, like don't whine, ghost promptly when needed, don't ESP bomb the host/ess, etc... and there's even been a report on all the work that goes into being a Bingo Host. Now, for all you people who are thinking of hosting your own events, or helping to host, here are some suggestions and helpful qualities for you. 1) Patience - a requirement every host/ess needs. Be it giving the rules of the games for the late comers the 15th time, asking them to ghost for the 50th time, or just listening to them tell you they aren't winning, and it's the speed of their computer that's at fault... a host/ess needs plenty of patience! This is never more true then when you are hosting in an Outdoor loca- tion. On the streets, you have many people passing by, not knowing what is going on, perhaps even striking up a conversation with you as you try to host the game.... there is less chance of this happening in an indoor locale, so if you're new to hosting, you may want to start on the inside. 2) Advertising - A game should be publicized and kept consistent to build up a following. The first step is to decide on a date or day that you can host, and how frequently you can host. Once this is decided, you should check the schedule to see available open locations, (ones not in use by others), submit your event to the scheduling commi- tee so they will post it in their schedule on the forum board, and also inform you if there is a location conflict. You can reach them at 76645,3012 and make sure you give them more then enough notice for it. Then, you should take the bull by the horn yourself, and get that publicity. There is the KYMER CLARION, ESP and The Yellow Pages, all out there to help you advertise. Post an add, a description of your game if it's a new one, a notice of any software needed, etc in any or all of those three sources, and the forum boards. If you have rules for a new game, you may want to upload them into the forum library, and refer to them in your posts so people can grab the rules before coming to the game. The advertising doesn't stop with the first game. After the game, send in the results to the KYMER CLARION and ESP so your winners see their names, and you get more publicity. Holding it at a consistent day and time helps bring in the regular players. Who to send it to for those publications mentioned? KYMER CLARION can be reached at 75664,663 or 72007,221 ESP can be reached at the CIS UID 71273,373 and for an ad in The Yellow Pages, contact them at 100347,263 Well, I don't want to bore you all at once.... so next week, we'll cover number 3 and 4 (maybe more) which are Preperation and Rules! By the time you're done reading this, if you're having second thoughts bout hosting, that just shows how sane you are! <><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><> AUTHORIZED BINGO HOSTS By Wert P Gumby Due to the number of scams and illegal downloads of my popular Kymer Bingo Host program, I have deceided to post a list of the authorized Kymer Hosts.
