What A Week! Have we all survived this week? I sure hope so! With so many crashes and server down time, many of our games and events have had to be delayed or postponed or even cancelled all together! This made for many angry hosts and players! It seems that all auctions were cancelled except for the few that could be held between down times. Even the Ode-To-My-Head Contest held to be postponed and set up for a new date and time! Could this be saying something? Who knows ? We have learned that Megret has had to cancel her trivia game, leaving an opening in trivia fanatics schedule. Even our favorite Pinkie and the Brains was cancelled, leaving even more players twiddling their thumbs and yelling at their keyboards! The best day for Jal and me seemed to be Tuesday! We were able to hold a full session of Boxerama Trivia Scramble, have time to clean up our turf, then head out to Data's World of Fortune without crashing! This all left time to work on TWIP but with nothing to really write about! We hope the server bugs are worked out soon, because we all need to feed our gaming addictions and look forward to a better week! By the way we found this posting in the Forum and found it really humourous! So Jal and I thought we would give everyone a little chuckle! From Annie Wilson.. Forum Post Humour Tonights in-world schedule is as follows- SERVER WILL BE DOWN So read on, enjoy and we hope you will let us know if you like our setup! We are always looking for new ideas and suggestions! So Good Luck to all of you in games and events "This Week In Phantasus"! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ! Feature Stories ! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! {!} - ***Host Spotlight*** - {!} By Sweet Suz Our Host Spotlight this week is Leadman! Leadman is a very innovative and interesting character in our dreamworld, who has brought good changes to the gaming scene in WorldsAway! He runs his Bingo and Roulette games all through the week and has kept the idea of 'Odds' betting alive! He also has a great Auction that keeps him busy weekly! This friendly character keeps his games friendly, under control and very fast paced! He makes the time spent at one of his games exciting! Leadman has become a favorite host to many inworld and continues to make a great difference in our Dreamscape! Jal and I have sent the regular questions to Leadman to find out how and what this great host thinks, also to find out about the avatar himself. So read on to find out so great information! We asked Leadman when he came inworld! He told us when and how he first came to WorldsAway! He told us, "I started my life inworld on January 6th, when a friend of mine told me about it. I liked it the very first day - the graphics, the chats with people from Europe and USA. Don't remember if I saw KYMER the first day " We wondered how and when Leadman had started hosting in our Dreamscape and he gave us a great answer again! So we figured we would again "Paraphrase" him! (We know this is cheating but hey! great answers, are great answers!). His answer was, "I thought about hosting KYMER (there was no BINGO then) in February, but somehow got off the idea again. Madra Rua was just finishing his BINGO Host mid/end of April and that was the time when I finally started to host Bingo. Since GermanGiant quit the games, nobody was left to host ODDS Bingo, every host played POT. But I preferred to play and host ODDS Bingo and from the success I had it seems that most players prefer to play ODDS too." "At the end of May I finished the programming of my Roulette host and had started to host Roulette too. Time was due to host something different than just Bingo/Kymer. Some players got tired of it and liked to play something different." Our next question to Leadman was about what it is like to host the games and auctions that he has created in our Dreamscape! The first word of his answer says a lot, "FUN!" He told us that for him it always was and has been fun to host the games! He also told us that he enjoys this because all of his players are disciplined during his events, whereas he has often seen that they were not at many other hosts events. He has told us that due to this discipline in his players, he hasn't had a need for many helpers! Wow this is the sign of a great host! Leadman also told us that he loves it when he gets ESPs by mistake that are destined to other people during the game, this is amusing for him. He told us that this happens a lot! This very enthusiastic host has told us also that since he is using his own Bingo Accounting. The hosting itself does not create as much stress on him! It was more of a hassle to write down player bets on paper and trying to remember everyone! This is one very creative man! Geez but we are nosey people, the next thing that we asked Leadman was, what are your likes and dislikes in the Dreamscape. His answers were very creative, and I believe they are the same as many of us! Leadman stated that the constant Server crashes were worst then anything else! He also told us that although he has been conned once himself, he does not believe that theft is bad now because we do have measures to avoid it! Our next question to Leadman was about what he would like to see in our Dreamscape in the future. He is a very solid individual who had a very interesting answer! No real head in the clouds man this guy! Here is his answer, "With the slow progress the Dreamscape is making IMHO, it doesn't make sense to fantasize about the future of Worlds Away. We know about the new features that should come up in the near future. Anything else probably will take 1-2 years and more to be finished. Who knows if we're still here then?" Leadman is a very personal individual who keeps his real world person to himself! He is a very interesting person who adds flair and style to his events! We should all be thankful to have someone inworld who does keep his mind to the millstone to keep events fresh! Although he has had to slowdown on his Bingo and Roulette due to Real World commitments, he has continued to hold his Auctions weekly! He has told us that he is looking forward to holding his gaming events again soon! So we all look forward to seeing Leadman back at it! Next week my Host Spotlight is someone very dear to me! As most people know Jal is my Real World husband. What a lot of people do not know, is that we were in the Dreamscape, December last year. He was then known as Jaliko. He hosted Werts Kymer and Kategories and now is hosting Boxerama! So read next week, maybe I'll tell ALL! {!} - Schedule Update - {!} By Jal Well, It has been a busy week, running around ESPing hosts like mad, to verify their event times and schedules. All the regular players were there, plus numerous new competitors, encouraged by the new scoring and timing rules. As always, the topic for the week was "Duck Soup", assorted facts from everywhere put together by a duck. This time, Brains outdid himself with some questions so trivial that they bordered on the diabolical, and once again Dark Sun proved himself the Wizard of WAG (Wild Astonishing Guess) and a Titan among Trivialists. Following were the winners of the week and the prizes they won: 1. Dark Sun, Duckolyte Wing: Red Space Chest w/Metal Man head painted rare Gold w/body spray; 2. Good Luck To All! {!} - Megret's Trivia Madhouse - {!} By Sweet Suz This week, much to the disappointment of all of Megret's regulars, we have learned that Megret is not doing to well. It pays to stay up late or get up early as the case may be! {!}- Worlds Of Fortune - {!} By Sweet Suz Acolyte Data with his two great helpers, Passion and Sunray Ann held a great game of Worlds Of Fortune on Tuesday August 13, 1996. There were 21 ghosts at one time all trying to get their ESPs into Data the fastest and called down to play a round. The puzzles were all exciting and really tough to solve! The first one went very fast however and Xxanadu won the round with the answer of Asteroid for the thing in WA. The consolation prizes went to Jayvee and Zotz. The ghost winner of the round was Li'l Kt. The second round was a little longer with the answer being Sealed Door. Jal (actually myself at the keyboard) was able to take this round against Poseidon, Lord of the Water and Princess Posielyte. The ghost winner of the round went to Sean. The third round was just as fun! This puzzle was a real world article. The answer was baggage and Totz was the winner of this round beating out Lummoose, Duckolyte Sr. Wing and Nemesis. The winner of the ghost answer was Jal again! We then went into the championship round with Totz, Jal and Xxanadu. Totz was the winner of this round with the answer to Avatar Names. Totz was able to come up with the name Kibbi! She also had the chance to choose her prize, the Bag-O-Chips head now has a new owner! The ghost winner of this round was Jayvee! Congratulations Totz! The next round was the championship round of ghost winners! The contestants were Li'l Kt, Jal and Sean. The winner was Li'l Kt who Knew the answer of the avatar name was Myrddin. The Ghost winner ws Jayvee again! Li'l Kt chose her prize of the red space chest! Congratulations Li'l Kt! Pretty Pony Girl was actually called for the first round of the game, however she crashed before the round had started and did not get back inworld until the final ghost championship round. So Acolyte Data being a gentleman gave PPG 50T consolation prize. He had offered to put her in the first round next week, however she can not be there. Thanks to Acolyte Data for making this another great game! {!}{!}{!}{!}{!}{!}{!}{!}{!}{!}{!}{!}{!}{!}{!}{!}{!}{!}{!}{!}{!}{!}{!} Event Listings for the Event Schedule cover the ESPs! TWIP! publication period of Monday through Sunday. Submitting these listings to ESP!'s TWIP! is in addition to submitting event information to the Scheduling Group. Scheduling conflicts, if any, are resolved by the Scheduling Group. Changes to recurring events should be submitted to both the Scheduling Group and ESP!'s TWIP! ESP!'s TWIP! is available in the Newsstand Library of the WA Community Forum, as a subsidiary publication with ESP!, and thus earns no tokens to pay authors. Upon the availability of inworld documents and the sale of ESP! inworld, this policy will be reviewed with payment and advertisement rates being adjusted accordingly. {!}{!}{!}{!}{!}{!}{!}{!}{!}{!}{!}{!}{!}{!}{!}{!}{!}{!}{!}{!}{!}{!}{!} {!} - Writers' Guidelines for ESP!'s TWIP Submissions - {!} Each issue of ESP!'s TWIP requires a great deal of time to prepare. Once the Editor has received everything for an issue, eight to ten hours of actual work hours later, the issue is ready for uploading by mid-afternoon Sunday. Writers can help reduce some of this time by following these tips. 1. ESP!'s TWIP does not place article titles in all caps; we initial cap the main words of an article title. Most of our writers submit their articles with their titles in all caps; to clean this up, the Editor must change it to lower case and then initial cap the main words. Writers: help us save a little time by typing your titles in initial caps only (main words: not words like "a", "the" when used within the title, "by", etc.) Along these lines, it is not necessary to include the {!} - before and after your article title or try to center it. In the conversion to ASCII text for retrieval into WordPerfect 5.1, the attempt to center the title becomes blank spaces which need to be deleted because the title is not really centered. Type your title flush left and your byline underneath it. The Editor will run her macro which will center the title, add the {!} - and - {!}, move to the next line and center the byline. 2. ESP!'s TWIP doublespaces between paragraphs and does not use tabbed indents for the main body of the article. These are flush left. Lists within an article may be indented or tabbed. Articles submitted that are single spaced between paragraphs and tabbed in one tab position at the beginning of the next paragraph require major cleanup. Once saved as ASCII text, these tabs become spaces which must be manually removed. Because some of the gaming reports include tabbed lists of winners and items won (which in ASCII become spaces), a global search and replace of spaces cannot be done. If this is done, then the gaming reports must be totally reformatted, replacing all the spaces with tabs or putting the deleted spaces back in for the lists to line up properly. 3. If you have subheadings within your article, do not type them all in upper case. Type them in initial caps and underscore them with the dashes like this: Subheading ---------- [Begin text here] 4. Use the ellipsis (three periods) correctly. The proper use of the ellipsis is [word][space]...[space][word]. The ellipsis is used between a sentence and a phrase, not between two full sentences, and the periods within the ellipsis do not have spaces in between. In quotes from other sources, the ellipsis is also used to designate that text has been removed. Too often, writers pepper their articles with multiple periods in between sentences.......Like this. A very careful search and replace must be done because we do not want to remove a period where one properly belongs. 5. Event Listings: hosts submitting events are asked to follow this format so we can more easily conform it to our schedule format: Day and Date Time Name of Event (not in all caps; initial capped) Location (if in a turf, indicate Turf Address: [name]) Host's Name Description of event (keep to a maximum of 100 words) Submitting a listing that looks like this: EVENT NAME, MONDAY, THURSDAY, FRIDAY TIME DESCRIPTION HOST'S NAME requires us to retype this to conform to our Event Schedule format. Please help us save some time by submitting it as indicated above. We will put in the leader dots on the second line between the location and the host's name. 6. Above all, proofread your article before submitting it. A spellcheck is run on all articles but words like "here" and "hear" will not be caught because they are both legitimate words. So make sure your words are spelled correctly. Every article submitted is read carefully and whatever grammatical, spelling and other changes necessary are made; but making these corrections can get very time consuming and delays the production of ESP!'s TWIP Think of these as Writers' Guidelines for ESP!'s TWIP They're not cast in stone and we won't reject a submission because it doesn't conform to our guidelines. ESP!'s TWIP needs all the original articles it can get! But anything our writers can do to help us spend less time in the actual production of ESP!'s TWIP to gives us *more* time to search for authors to provide us with original stories and other articles would be *greatly* appreciated! Thank you! !}!}!}!}!}!}!}!}!}!}!}!}!}!}!}!}!}!}!}!}!}!}!}!}!}!}!}!}!}!}!}!}!}!}!}
