I only have a couple of things to say to all this week as Sweet Suz is not doing so well today! Oh Well! We had a few problems last week in our issue that we have been working on, like updating the schedule a little more, getting some further information, and generally changing the format just a little. We hope you all liked the basic outline of TWIP; from some of the comments we did receive, a lot of people did like the set up! We were happy with some of the suggestions that did come in and believe me we are using them! I would like to apologize to everyone for not getting the comments added to Brain's Host Spotlight article last week, but with the time going by so fast we did not get them into the article as we had hoped, but let me tell you no one had a bad thing to say, all comments were wonderful! This week our Host Spotlight is shining on Clover of Clover's Collectible Auctions and boy did we learned about her! Next week we are going to have another host but we are not going to tell you who that is right now; we are going to keep that little secret to ourselves! Just a little mystery to add to our columns! So read on, enjoy and we hope you will let us know if you like our setup! We are always looking for new ideas and suggestions! So Good Luck to all of you in games and events "This Week In Phantasus"! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ! Feature Stories ! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! {!} - Host Spotlight - {!} Clover of Clover's Collectibles This week Clover is our Host Spotlight and this lady is a very innovative and loyal character in our WorldsAway Dreamscape. We asked Clover to complete our questionnaire and found a deeper insight into who Clover really is. Everyone who goes to one of Clover's Collectible Auctions knows that she is friendly, funny and always there to help, but she goes even further back. Clover was one of the original Beta Testers in August of 1995. She was there on the opening day to the community and was a helper of newbies to get around the world on the Opening day. Clover met a good friend in Scuttle who was also in Dreamscape in the early days and became one of his helpers when Events, Games and Auctions started. Clover helped by answering questions and keeping the books for Scuttle. Eventually when Scuttle left WorldsAway, Clover being as loyal as ever did not want to disappoint her customers, and took Scuttle's place in keeping the Auctions going. We asked Clover what is was like on her first day of auctioning alone and she told us that nerves were her only feelings. She felt she was going to be able to do it, but we all know how organized Clover can be, and she showed her true colours. After she finished her first auction, she thought to herself, "Wow! this wasn't bad, I can do this." and much to all of our delight she has! Congratulations Clover! We asked Clover what hosting an event was like for her and what she felt about being a host in Worlds Away. She told us this, "It can be very rewarding, but at the same time very frustrating. To be honest I can't imagine being in WA without hosting an event. You have to be very organized and able to handle multi-tasking. Organization is the key to a successful event. Hosting an event is an on going learning experience that allows you the opportunity to interact with many avatars on a weekly basis." We continued on and asked Clover what she liked and disliked in WorldsAway, though she really did not find anything she didn't like about our Dreamscape, the things that she did like were many. She likes the people she meets! She told us in her own words the best way possible, "I mainly enjoy the friendships that I have developed in WA, take away the people and there would be no WA." Clover also told us she would like to see some great things come into the world like furniture, glue and accessories for our characters like hats, necklaces and personalized things for instance. She laughingly told us that she knows these items will be inworld "Soon"! LOL! Clover is a character who has many sides to her, and a sense of humor is one that we can all relate to! Many of her friends know that Clover is a single girl who is looking for a special man to share her dreams with. We did find out that Clover does reside in Michigan. She is very outgoing in our world but is very private in her real world life and likes to keep both very separate, which in some ways is very good, as this adds to the mystery behind Clover! So if you do see Clover on the streets of Phantasus, go up to her say "Hi!" Any good looking guys out there looking for a really great gal? Think about Clover! {!} - Schedule Update - {!} By Jal Well, we made it through to the second issue of TWIP! What a week this has been. The Krewe of the Duckolytes ! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! {!} - Duckolyte Ghost Racing - {!} by Disco Duck, Wing Special Projects Duckolyte Ghost Racing got a rousing, riveting start this month when LumMoose, Duckolyte Sr. Wing, hosted the first monthly game on Sunday, August 4, in the turf "Duck Hunt". All the renowned racers of Kymer, as well as some new participants, roused themselves at 7 a.m. WAT to compete for the prizes,some of which were standard vendo-issue, and some of which were rare. Following are the results of each race: 1st Race 50T Tycoon 2nd Race Seaweed Pizza Davy Joe 3rd Race-Box Race Snowball Unga-Bunga, Duckolyte Wing 4th Race-Box Race Flowers Tycoon 5th Race Fern Davy Joe 6th Race Chill Pill & 100T Renegade, Duckolyte Sr. Wing 7th Race Rare Black Paint Set Unga-Bunga, Duckolyte Wing 8th Race Dumbells Renegade, Duckolyte Sr. Wing 9th Race Rose Head, Rare Red Guardian Angel 10th Race Pipe Ansuu 11th Race Pink Valentine Mc Duck 12th Race 100T Ansuu 13th Race Spider ALIEN I Following are the current monthly standings for August: 2 Wins: Ansuu Davy Joe Renegade, Duckolyte Sr. Wing Tycoon Unga-Bunga, Duckolyte Wing 1 Win: ALIEN I Guardian Angel Mc Duck On August 29, a new Monthly Champion will be crowned, and will receive a rare and special prize from the Oracles. If you have a keen eye, fast reflexes, and want the satisfaction of competing with some of the fastest ghosts in Kymer, join LumMoose, Duckolyte Sr. Wing, the Krewe of the Duckolytes, and the gathered galloping ghosts every Sunday at 7 a.m. WAT in the turf Duck Hunt. {!} Pinkie & the Brains {!} by Disco Duck, Wing Special Projects The August 8 session of "Pinkie and the Brains" was reduced from the usual five rounds to two, but what exciting rounds they were! Both co-hosts wanted all interested avatars to be able to attend the Oracle Conference with Teresias scheduled for 7 p.m. WAT, but they also wanted to make the shortened session especially fun and worthwhile for the gathered ghosts. "Pinkie & the Brains" is co-sponsored by the Krewe of the Duckolytes and by ESP!, Kymer's premier weekly newspaper. The game is a modified version of hide and seek, which rewards knowledge of Kymer and the ability to think in an intuitive, non-linear way. The game is played in this way: One of the co-hosts or the week's celebrity guests hides in a public locale in Kymer. The Hidden then notifies the co- host remaining in the turf. The co-host gives the gathered ghosts a secret phrase which contains a clue to the location of the Hidden. The first player to find the Hidden and say the secret phrase aloud is the winner of the round. After a player has located the Hidden, the co-host remaining in the turf ESPs all of the players. Upon arriving back at the turf, the winner of the round selects one of the locked prize chests, each of which contains a rare, secret surprise. This chest is opened before the gathered ghosts, then the next round begins. The last round of the last session each month is the Championship Round. Every winner during the month has the opportunity to compete for a special, rare, and often very valuable prize. Because only two rounds were played on August 8, the Wing Commander made sure that each secret surprise would be something special. He and Passion also deviously devised clever clues to ensure that wily wit would be applied by the winners. Huck solved the clue "I hear a rhapsody", and hastily hopped to the Vmart where he found Brains hidden by the Boombox vendo. Huck selected Prize Chest #1, and found a rich, ruby red Space Chest inside, along with a glass of champagne to celebrate his success. Utopia determined that the Bar-L Storeroom was the ideal place to find Passion, who had hidden there, taking her cue from the clue, "at the mall". When Prize Chest #2 was opened, Utopia was rewarded with a piece of very rare blueberry Halloween candy. "Pinkie and the Brains" is not only fun, but a royal road to wealth. Each of this week's winners received a prize valued at a minimum of 2,000 tokens! Get out those maps of Kymer and practice those right-brained thinking skills, then be sure to join Passion, Brains, Wing Commander, the Krewe of the Duckolytes, and the celebrity guest at the turf "Pinkie's Place" every Thursday at 6 p.m. WAT. It's fee-free and it's fun. See you there! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ! Games of Chance ! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! {!} Boxerama Update {!} By Jal Tuesday was the grand opening of Boxerama. Unfortunately, the attendance was lower than expected to start, as everyone was in line to get painted from Yul and Charlotte. People started showing up as time went on. Overall, this new event was a great success. Acolyte Brynne was our special guest host for the evening. Brynne got everyone thinking away as she announced the puzzle. All our players had to do was unscramble an Avatar's name. First person to ESP the correct spelling of the Avatar's name won. They picked a box number from 1 to 20, and won what was inside. He was followed close behind by Schwarzfuchs, who won a Bag_O_Chips head. Lastly Daxx, won a Heart Chest with a rare gold Fern head with an Ich_liebe_Dich cake inside it! In case you do not know what Ich_liebe_Dich means, it means 'I love you' in German! Our consolation prizes went to Zooey, who won flowers, Chanella, who won a red valentine, and Perry Rhodan, who donated his prize for next months event. Thank you Perry! At the MultiTrivia, Oliviander came in at the last minute and stole the show! He got every answer correct, and ended up with the most points for the month. For his great work, he won a Bag_O_Chips head! Zooey came in second and won a Rose head painted rare pink! If you see Maurita anywhere about... let Maurita know Kaiserfuchs and Kaiserfuchsin have her flowers for winning third place for the month! We at D-Treff want to give a big hug and thanks to Oracle Uni and Sabertooth for making some of our prizes possible. Not to forget, Kaiserfuchs and Kaiserfuchsin have also generously supported all the events from their own personal collection and tokens! Thank you all! {!} Megret's Madhouse Trivia {!} By Sweet Suz On Monday August 5, 1996 everyone who attended Megret's Madhouse had a great and frustrating time! Megret as always was friendly, composed and challenging. Her game was interrupted several times by a troublesome player who has been giving Megret a lot of problems lately! The player had to be ejected once again from Megret's turf and Acolytes had to be called due to this player flooding her with ESP's so she could not call the game. The problems were solved efficiently and the game proceeded! After the problems left the game was trouble free and a lot of fun! Way To Go Megret! Megret gave away six door prizes again this week. The winners of the first three were White Rabbit, Grace Sunshine, and Alien I. The second prize drawing that took place at half time and were won by Docolyte Purpleman Martin, Mercy D. Benz, and Paladin Arcane. The winners of the game were as follows: @Dark Sun@ who won a Gray Rose Head and matching paint. 502, Duckolyte who won a Pink Rose Head and matching paint. Sir Launce who won a Heart Chest. The winner of the booby prize tonight was Kalguss, who won a vase of flowers! Congratulations to all the Winners! {!} Megret's Trivia Update {!} By Megret Just a quick note to inform (or remind) my regular players that at the end of this month we WILL have a championship play-off for either Oracle heads, or the most valued items I can beg, buy, or trade. The finalists will be selected from their TOTAL point score, for any of the three specific nights (Mon 7 PM, Tues 4:30, and Wed 7:30). So please, make sure you use the same avatar each time you play. In other words, at the end of the month, I will add everyone's score for Monday Night, and the 2 with the highest TOTAL points accumulated on Monday nights, will be invited to the playoffs. I have noticed that many. many people end up with high TOTAL point scores for the month without necessarily coming in a winner. They just come regularly and score consistently. So, it will be *total points* for each avatar, not necessarily the "winners" coming back again. It is * very* possible to NEVER actually win a game during the month, and still end up one of the two top scorers. Tuesday afternoon's game and the Wednesday Night game will work the same way. The two with the top TOTAL POINTS on *each* night, will be invited to the playoffs. If one player using two different avatars scores high enough to be in the playoff, only one avatar can be invited, so don't forget, you can't have two different avatars, one on each night, and expect to be able to play in the playoff rounds. Only the top three of the six will be guaranteed highly valued prizes. (Though all will win something more than my usual.) {!} White Hawk Roulette {!} By White Hawk Well, I have come to sadly realize that I do not have enough free time to spend hosting or updating my White Hawk Roulette program. Many games have been played, with many winners and losers, and we have all had a wonderful time (which is the real reason to play the games). But, since I find it harder to find time to get on and host the game on a regular basis, I will be selling White Hawk Roulette. In the past, I have not sold the host program to anyone. Thus, I have decided to sell not only the White Hawk Roulette Host Program, but also the Host Program source code, the Player Program source code, and all documentation and help files. The programs are written in Visual Basic. With the source code, you will be able to make any changes you desire to either the host or player program, and distribute or sell them to whoever you like. You will have the right to host roulette any time you wish. You can also use the code modules that interface to Worlds Away to write you own new program. I am selling this entire package and all the above stated rights for only 20,000 Tokens. This is a bargain, since you can make this back within the first month of hosting. If interested, send the following information to me (White Hawk 73531,43): In world name CIS Address Best times and place to meet for T exchange (WA time) {!}{!}{!}{!}{!}{!}{!}{!}{!}{!}{!}{!}{!}{!}{!}{!}{!}{!}{!}{!}{!}{!}{!}{!}{!} Event Listings for the Event Schedule cover the ESPs! Submissions - {!} Each issue of ESP!'s TWIP! requires a great deal of time to prepare. Once the Editor has received everything for an issue, eight to ten hours of actual work hours later, the issue is ready for uploading by midafternoon Sunday. Writers can help reduce some of this time by following these tips. 1. ESP!'s TWIP! does not place article titles in all caps; we initial cap the main words of an article title. Most of our writers submit their articles with their titles in all caps; to clean this up, the Editor must change it to lower case and then initial cap the main words. Writers: help us save a little time by typing your titles in initial caps only (main words: not words like "a", "the" when used within the title, "by", etc.) Along these lines, it is not necessary to include the {!} - before and after your article title or try to center it. In the conversion to ASCII text for retrieval into WordPerfect 5.1, the attempt to center the title becomes blank spaces which need to be deleted because the title is not really centered. Type your title flush left and your byline underneath it. The Editor will run her macro which will center the title, add the {!} - and - {!}, move to the next line and center the byline. 2. ESP!'s TWIP! doublespaces between paragraphs and does not use tabbed indents for the main body of the article. These are flush left. Lists within an article may be indented or tabbed. Articles submitted that are single spaced between paragraphs and tabbed in one tab position at the beginning of the next paragraph require major cleanup. Once saved as ASCII text, these tabs become spaces which must be manually removed. Because some of the gaming reports include tabbed lists of winners and items won (which in ASCII become spaces), a global search and replace of spaces cannot be done. If this is done, then the gaming reports must be totally reformatted, replacing all the spaces with tabs or putting the deleted spaces back in for the lists to line up properly. 3. If you have subheadings within your article, do not type them all in upper case. Type them in initial caps and underscore them with the dashes like this: Subheading ---------- [Begin text here] 4. Use the ellipsis (three periods) correctly. The proper use of the ellipsis is [word][space]...[space][word]. The ellipsis is used between a sentence and a phrase, not between two full sentences, and the periods within the ellipsis do not have spaces in between. In quotes from other sources, the ellipsis is also used to designate that text has been removed. Too often, writers pepper their articles with multiple periods in between sentences.......Like this. A very careful search and replace must be done because we do not want to remove a period where one properly belongs. 5. Event Listings: hosts submitting events are asked to follow this format so we can more easily conform it to our schedule format: Day and Date Time Name of Event (not in all caps; initial capped) Location (if in a turf, indicate Turf Address: [name]) Host's Name Description of event (keep to a maximum of 100 words) Submitting a listing that looks like this: EVENT NAME, MONDAY, THURSDAY, FRIDAY TIME DESCRIPTION HOST'S NAME requires us to retype this to conform to our Event Schedule format. Please help us save some time by submitting it as indicated above. We will put in the leader dots on the second line between the location and the host's name. 6. Above all, proofread your article before submitting it. A spellcheck is run on all articles but words like "here" and "hear" will not be caught because they are both legitimate words. So make sure your words are spelled correctly. Every article submitted is read carefully and whatever grammatical, spelling and other changes necessary are made; but making these corrections can get very time consuming and delays the production of ESP!'s TWIP! Think of these as Writers' Guidelines for ESP! TWIP! They're not cast in stone and we won't reject a submission because it doesn't conform to our guidelines. ESP! TWIP! needs all the original articles it can get! But anything our writers can do to help us spend less time in the actual production of ESP! TWIP! to gives us *more* time to search for authors to provide us with original stories and other articles would be *greatly* appreciated! Thank you! !}!}!}!}!}!}!}!}!}!}!}!}!}!}!}!}!}!}!}!}!}!}!}!}!}!}!}!}!}!}!}!}!}!}!}
