File 011 Head Machines Chi'kkren Head Machines

Last updated: 20 June 3046

Although the continued existence of Chi'kkren society within our dimension continues to be hotly debated, perhaps the strongest evidence that they remain active is the continued replenishment of the artefacts now known as Head Machines.

These strange devices feature a selection of head designs, enabling users to change their physical appearance.

Some of the designs that have appeared in the Head Machines include versions of the Chi'kkren servitor races, such as the T'Chell and the Ukrann.

Because these head designs occasionally change, T'Chell archivists cite this as evidence that the Chi'kkren are still out there, somewhere. They argue the Head Machines reflect the acquisitive nature of the Chi'kkren and the machines display recent examples of Chi'kkren contact with other alien races.

However, the Luddites dismiss these claims, arguing that the Heads are merely the creation of some as yet undiscovered computer program deep within the bio-organic planet, Technos. They argue that if the Head Machines were observed for long enough, certain designs would repeat, proving the machines are computer-controlled.

Other scientists suggest that the technology has now been usurped by a more aggressive, unnamed race whose predilection for head-hunting is reflected in the heads that appear in the Machines. This disturbing theory suggests that the Head Machines are actually some kind of trophy cabinet. While it is certain this debate will continue to rage, the Head Machines are, nevertheless, a fascinating example of Chi'kkren ingenuity and a testament to the design skills of this mysterious builder race.

The Space City Council now maintains these ancient devices in association with the T'Chell Matriarchs by charging a fee for usage. Some Head Machines have been transferred to other planets and continue to work independently of Technosian power sources.
